Ideas for Decorating Your Glass Shower

You may love the sleek minimalism of glass showers. But if you want, you can also design a glass shower to be highly decorative and become the focal point of your bathroom. Here are some ideas.

Framing

A glass shower consists mainly of the screens and the hardware. It's popular to go minimal with the hardware and fit a frameless design. But instead, why not do the opposite and use custom decorative framing? For example, give the shower a zen-inspired look with black metal framing that cuts the screens into squares. The shower will feature a series of horizontal and vertical black lines, creating a geometric design.

Alternatively, install a shower with thick black simple frames around the rim of each transparent screen in a bathroom with white subway tiles for a vintage-inspired look. Another possibility is to use another metal, such as polished brass. You could pair this contoured brass framing with frosted glass and a striking handle.

Decorative Glass Screens

Besides the frame, the other major shower component is the glass screens. Many showers use transparent or low-iron glass, which is ultra-pure. Another way to add interest to the shower design is to fit decorative glass instead.

For example, you could opt for blue-toned fluted glass. Other tones you could consider are green, grey or bronze. Toned glass can have more or less colour-inducing minerals, so the screens can be faint or display an intense colour.

Rather than installing a shower with identical screens on all sides, you could install one feature screen on a rectangle shower. That way, you can opt for a bolder glass design as it's limited to one panel.

Shower Screen Shapes

Another decorative glass possibility is to play with the shape of the screen. For example, connect a fixed screen against the wall. The screen could be rounded on the free side rather than have a sharp corner.

You can also use the walls and tiling to create an unusual shower contour. If a shower is enclosed on three sides by tiled walls, you could construct a tiled archway over the glass screens. Two arched doors that swing outwards could form a grand entrance to a uniquely shaped enclosure.

If you want something more standard but still beautiful, opt for one of the many frosted glass designs for your shower screens. Decorative glass has a side benefit in that it makes your shower more private.
